Recipes

We also have recipes for you. Recipes are scripts that perform automatic installation of software. They allow you to make a machine ready for work from a server with a bare OS. And, if you create OS templates – end users can work with recipes too.

To install the script, just open the corresponding menu in the panel and insert the code. You can write a recipe in any language. The main thing is to have the necessary interpreter in the OS.

Templatesof OS

Automatic installation of the Operating System on the server is one of the main features.

For many of our customers installing OS on the server seems to be a troublesome business and not very interesting. Usually our engineers did this, spending more and more time with increasing number of servers and clients. Therefore, it was decided to fully automate this process, while making it as flexible and simple for the client as possible.

Renting a dedicated server provides the client with a ready server almost immediately after payment. For example, installing Debian 8 or another popular system takes no more than 30 minutes.

The panel allows you to create your own templates and includes more than 20 ready-made images of operating systems: CentOS 6 and 7; Debian 7, 8, 9; FreeBSD 9, 10, 11; Ubuntu 14, 16, 18; Windows Server 2008, 2012, 2016; Diag-x86_64; OpenVZ – 7; Sysrescd-x86_64; VMware-ESXi-6 and others.

Stages of installation of OS

1. The OS template is being prepared. All necessary files for TFTP and NFS servers are created and copied.
2. Changes are made to the DHCP and NFS server configuration files. Then, the DHCP server is restarted and the NFS server configuration is applied.
3. The panel reboots the server.
4. The server is booted using PXE and receives the loader (usually pxelinux) via TFTP.
5. Depending on the OS template, the installer (or the installation script) is run. Next, the installer or script gets the configuration over HTTP from DCImanager.
6. After completion of the installation, the server also reports via HTTP that DCImanager reports completion.
